As the semester wraps up, I conclude my capstone project...

While it was a bit of a hectic semester during midterms, I was able to dive into a direction I believe best suited these pieces and my developing style. Aside from the outlines and color-blocking, utilizing the brush Potato helped highlight the rough glass texture, and manipulating color balance layers aided in bringing out the glow of certain elements in each illustration.

As a recap, the first two drawings highlight the dreams from Genesis and Matthew, respectively. The following two pieces are from Revelation, depicting visions that have yet to occur, according to the Bible.

Above, we see Genesis 41:1-4 (NIV), with dark skies in the top left foreshadowing the seven years of famine following the seven years of plentiful harvest as depicted by the plump cows in the foreground.

Above, we see what is described as more of a Biblically accurate type of angel, telling Joseph in a dream telling him to take the child and his mother to Egypt, for King Herod intends to find and kill them. The verse in reference can be found in Matthew 2:13 (NIV). Aside from the glowing element of the angel, the mother also glows to highlight focus in addition to the starry night sky leading the viewer in that same direction.

As the sky darkened to nightfall, I believe it helped transition the color palette to darker colors, offering more mystery and ominousness to the drawings below.

Above, the verses from Revelation 9:17-19 (NIV) are depicted, and my interpretation is removing the riders as I believe this scene is already powerful as it is. The fire element helps to bring in the other two horses on the sides, providing unity through them all.

Lastly, we are brought in from Revelation 13:1-3, The Beast of the Sea. In this illustration, I manipulated a couple of color layers to provide a more blue-ish tone and focus on the most fore-front lion head and bringing out the eyes of the others.

While I am proud of how far I have come despite a few hiccups, my goals for the future are to touch up these pieces following graduation and develop my style more closely. I aspire to one day be a concept artist, illustrator, and graphic designer for event venues such as concerts, races, fundraisers, and community events throughout my lifetime.
