When I spoke with my mentor last week, she discussed a couple of art competition deadlines coming up this week and encouraged me to submit some of my capstone work because it would look good on my CV.

One was SIGGRAPH, and the theme was "Speculative Futures." Since a couple of my capstone pieces are based on Biblical verses of Revelation, it suited it quite well unknowingly. My only challenge was still completing the male riders on the horses, so I just decided to remove those layers and have the horses and their elements alone. I feel it still captured the powerful message of the verse.

Because my primary focus was meeting the SIGGRAPH entry Monday night, I did not focus nearly as much on the other pieces. However, I did add more outlines for the seven cows pieces and explored a bit more of the color sampling of how I wanted the final piece to look.

After talking with my mentor this past Wednesday, it was suggested that I thin out the line strokes in the sky to a smaller point and try to have the clouds imitate a similar style to the smoke in the three-horses series. In addition, having the somewhat hilly land be a dried-out yellowish color suggests the long years ahead full of famine.

I aim to complete all work by April 8th, leaving a cushion if necessary, but I aim to avoid that entirely.
